Emran Anwar Hashmi was born on March 24 1979. People closed to him call him ‘Emmi".
His father belongs to a Muslim race while is mother is a Catholic. He changed his name to Farhaan Hashmi but recently decided to keep the extra “A” as he received some
good signs and benefits form numerology about that letter.
Just at the age of five years Emraan had perform in many commercials like Rasna, Goodnight etc. Emraan was then known as a child model.
Emraan graduated from Sydenham College in Mumbai where he took up graphics and animations studies.
He is a nephew to Mahesh Bhatt, the famous Producer as well as a Director in the film Industry and Actress turned Director Pooja Bhatt is one of his Cousins and has many close realitives in Karachi, Pakistan.
After completing his graduation he started working as an assistant director with Vikram Bhatt and there his interest started losing in other monotonous work. As he was an assistant to Sir Vikram Bhatt, he got a golden opportunity to work in films like ‘Raj’ and ‘Kasoor’.
Emraan’s work was then noticed by brother Mahesh Bhatt and one day suddenly Mahesh Bhatt asked him to act in his next film and Emraan agreed in Acting in his film. But actually he wanted to be a Pilot, and never thought to get any work related to the media.
He married Parveen Shahani at an elaborate ceremony on Thursday, January 14, 2006. The reception was held at a plush hotel in Bandra, Mumbai and was limited to the family members and close friends of the actor.
Hashmi made his debut in 2003 with the film Footpath however, it did not do well at the box office. He shot to fame with Murder (2004) which was his first hit. His next few films such as Zeher (2005), Kalyug (2005) and Gangster (2006) have done well at the box office and the soundtracks in these respective films have helped
create a large fan base. Incidentally, all the songs from his movies have become instant hits. The playback singers for most of his film's songs has been Himesh Reshammiya, Kunal Ganjawala and Atif Aslam.
Emraan is also famous for his kissing scenes in most of his movies and has gained the title of 'Serial Kisser' in the bollywood industry.
He is the first Bollywood actor who take viagra to do volguer and kissing seens. Emraan also described his first on screen kiss during an interview claiming that he was very nervous and almost opted out of
the scene before going ahead and shooting and some of his friends gave him a tablet of viagra when he took the tablet the he felt easy to do
all it with the female co-star.
